Steeped in Christian guilt and pathos. This is the tale of a jealous lover and his obsession. Despite his protestations of faith, Armin is a nihilist and a murderer. He has no god but his own pedantic desires.
Ultimately he’s as possessed by demons as the little girl in the exorcist (which is maybe how he survives his first death)
Ondrej steps back into darkness as his two great loves leaves his life.
The production here is really amazing and every bit as enveloping as Kurosawa’s feudal Japan.
Anyone attempting a project with medieval trappings should take note.
