We all have to live in our own heads no matter the material circumstances. As we see daily, the trappings of material success seduce with their promise of ease and freedom.
The reality is that all humans are trapped by circumstance. Ripley - whomever he really is, can shift his identity, but not his soul.
And while each day creation is renewed, souls can wither and die if driven too deeply into wickedness.
The temptation to embrace Ripley’s path is there for all of us, and far too many take it - at the cost of their own souls.
