The Prestige declares its intentions and the solution to its biggest mysteries right in the first 20 minutes. But even that is a trick to take the audience on a story of one man’s loss of humanity and another’s redemption.
This is my personal favorite of Nolan’s films - as it’s so pure in form and function. His other films may get the first two steps correct, but this film’s actual sucker punch is his best “prestige”
Also is this secretly Hugh Jackman’s best performance? It’s such a subtly evil turn.
Great work across the board from a great cast. I don’t always love Nolan - but when he hits home runs, they tend to fly way out of the park.
