
Even for Bergman this confounds. Very much operating on dream logic throughout the film. Meta commentary from the actors on their characters. Swapped identities (Anna and Eva seem to be the same person sort of) and multiversal jumps to Bergman’s Shame are awesome - but also sort of hang separately for me.
The images and performances and Von Sydow’s sweaters all kill - but a bit too disjointed in the end.
