Iconic and hysterical - the jokes hold up because of the great writing but mostly because of the incredible performances. This is one of Goldie Hawn’s funniest roles - which is saying something for the woman who was in Private Benjamin and Overboard.
Diane Keaton gets to play the straight woman in this film, with Bette Midler just a complete brash force of nature. And that’s not even going into Maggie Smith, Dan Hedeya and SJP all putting in solid work.
This cast is an all time ensemble from start to finish. And while it’s clearly made by a sitcom master, it’s still an all time classic.
