Self-consciously Bergman-esque, but doesn’t have his sense of pacing. This is a very good and moving film, but takes 15-20 mins too long to get to where it needs to be.
And while I enjoyed the Elle Fanning performance - after a bit, it becomes clear where it’s headed.
Vastly preferred his last film to this one, but still a solid entry in his ouvre.
