Peking Opera Blues is a film from the "What if?" universe where the Marx Brothers made a Kung Fu movie addressing serious themes about gender identity, family responsibility, political corruption and foreign colonialism.
Crackling with life and humor and acrobatic feats. I was genuinely taken aback and then taken in by the radical tonal shifts between scenes and within the material.
But like many of the set pieces, the entire film is choreographed beautifully.
