One of the most languid, sun drenched, sultry noirs ever filmed. Seeing this at Walter Reade on 35mm is a completely different experience than watching at home. The grainy film stock only serves to reinforce the gritty, and sleazy nature of Harry Mosbey’s life and case.
There is no solving this case. Just greed, plunder, exploitation and death.
Man I love this movie. An all time performance from Gene Hackman and honestly James Woods.
Great stuff.
