One of the better American films about modern love and romance that I’ve seen in awhile. I could (and do) quibble with the pacing issues, and weirdly structured and plotted “Return of the King” style of ending —
BUT
This film also has a tremendous amount to say about humanism, love and capitalism that cuts considerably deeper than how it draws the viewer in.
Celine Song clearly knows and loves New York, and this film feels like a throwback to the great 80’s drama-dies like “Working Girl” or “The Secret of My Success” as much as the Kate Hudson era of broadly plotted rom-coms.
It’s shot in a very similar style to “Working Girl” - especially, which makes sense given the star.
The result is a very heartfelt, fantastic, but also clear-eyed portrait of love in 2025.
Very much worth seeing. Celine Song is a true talent. Looking forward to her next one
