A complete triumph. As a more sophisticated viewer 20+years hence (in part because of this film) I am far more astute at picking out all the references, easter eggs and homages that proliferate Kill Bill. But that just makes this an even more towering achievement.
Seen in total and as one work, you take a full journey with The Bride - from exhilaration, to frustration, to regret and exhaustion and utter earned relief. The battle with the Crazy 88’s becomes the center of the film, rather than a conclusion that leads to a totally separate sequels Uma literally does it all and earns her place among the all time, iconic screen heroines.
It’s hard to find a film this beautiful, moving, exciting and well paced. I hope this is the way the film is screened from now on.
Bravo!
