John Houston has a lot to say in this film - beyond the incredibly tense crime/hostage plot. But the key lesson - that evil is always waiting for its opportunity to return - is its most lasting and powerful.
Bogey and Bacall are great in this one - but it’s Edward G’s film. This performance will haunt for some time.
