Movie stars - they have midlife crises just like us! This was a good but not great look at the regrets and little inhumane acts that some people think they must offer to the gods of success.
I think Professor Isak Borg has a more successful psychological excavation in Bergman's Wild Strawberries. But Borg is also a much deeper, much smarter, and more accomplished human. Borg unlike Kelly has suffered real pain and humiliations. Jay Kelly always - always - has the option to dance it all away.
I kinda wish this movie was about Adam Sandler and Laura Dern's characters, and we could've seen their psychological excavations. In the end, for Jay Kelly - there's not much there beyond the screen anyway.
