The world turns on petty cruelties, and the justifications of the wicked. But the reckoning is coming. The cycle of violence and humiliation will likely get a lot worse before that happens. I am not sure where this film stands on empathy. Is the final scene a threat? A sign of hope? Either way - whatever the promos of martyrdom, only the former prisoners get to keep their souls.
