Conclave, 2024 - ★★½

So, so, so, so boring. Long stretches of this are like C-Span, and the others are overwrought office politics. Somehow makes the stakes of the papacy lower than selecting a new water and power commissioner.

The twist such as it is, is self-congratulatory pablum - born of an era that is dying a little bit more each day.

I suspect the actual Conclave - which looks as if it could happen any day now, will have extremely different results.

The performances are fine - but wouldn’t be out of place in a streaming show on the same subject.

Which in the end, is what this feels like - a pilot for a TV show about the new papacy. 

Do not get the praise for this one.
