That wasn't Timothy Hutton?!?!
Ok aside from thinking the lead was a different actor until the final credits rolled - I really enjoyed this one. It is crazy that the studio originally gave this a happy ending!
Joan Micklin Silver has such a humanistic touch in her portrayals of relationships. We know very little about Laura, except for how she fits into Charles idealized future.
Gloria Grahame -- once everyone's ideal -- also suffers from not being able to measure up. She's so good in this too!
Truly love how this movie plays with the idea of romance as an ideal - and shows it can be stifling, or deadening - if not reciprocated or conceived in truth.
A lot to chew on.
