In my head canon, this is all one long dream Scotte Ferguson has off-screen in Vertigo. I loved the technicolor, on-location in late 1950’s New York vibe of this movie. Jack Lemmon and a boozy Ernie Kovak - amazing.
But I’d sooner believe in Santa Claus than Kim Novak needing black magic to enchant anyone - let alone Jimmy Stewart in this film.
This is a beautiful movie to look at, but its pacing and convoluted script keep it from entering the Stewart Xmas pantheon.
