Kinda loved Bergman’s take on the 30’s era screwball comedy. Sure it’s got all the standard ruinations about god and death - but some of the slapstick rivals early Capra and Ophuls.
Would not be surprised if this was also an early sketch for Johan and Marianne. There's a lot of similarities in the relationship -- even if this film operates in a much more heightened reality.
